Dating using skype… yes we can… an interesting startup…

How about a combination of skype and dating service? Something like this has finally arrived.

It is called Skyecandy and it is a video dating service that takes Skype as its starting point. In a nutshell, it will let anybody take part of speed dating sessions that start every few minutes. After few minutes your successful dates are then recorded in the “Results” page that appears with your profile.

Authors underline that “matches you automatically with real people all over the world from the comfort and security of your own home”. Frankly speaking I don’t really think that it will become the new way people meet potential partners, but it looks like an intersting site to spend few minutes a week.

The website is well done from a purely technical point of view, but I would expect more user friendly options. Quality of sound and video is relatively good even though it’s far from being what looks like dating in real life.

A really cool thing to use is the SMS messaging system that will let you get in touch with any successful date you have had in the past. Very simple, but nice.
