Namechk.com was launched by David Gosse and Andy Edinborough tofind out you if your desired username was available at the majority of the top social networking websites. This simple site allows to type your username into the “chk” search box, it will query all the sites (about 40 different services) listed on the page and display whether the username is taken or available.

The main idea for the startup was inspired by Jon Sykes who had originally designed a similar site but eventually gave up. Founders yet believed it was ingenious and they decide to follow the same idea. An we are very happy about it, as those of us who use social bookmarking sites believe such sites are great.

Authors promised to launch additional features over time. By the way they decided to launch the project on April 1, 2009 just for fun. Those guys really have good sense of humor.
