One of the big today is that allows now to make presentations online. Well, for most of us it’s normal to use Microsoft Office or Open Office almost everyday, so my I was wondering why any should use this new tool.

First of all we are used to having software installed on desktop computers or laptops and we don’t want to rely on the all the time.

Second, I wouldn’t trust an online application while doing . It’s too risky to work on a file that might be damaged while connected to the .

Third, why the hell should I connect to the if I can do the same things offline for free using Open Office.

To sum up: I don’t think that this is gonna be a successful project and 99% of people will never try it.

I can definitely see it being useful for situations where you are bringing a flash drive or CD with a presentation on it to use on someone else’s computer. Because things always happen- having a version saved somewhere online would definitely add peace of mind.

…Then again, you can always host your PowerPoint or Open Office version online.

Did you even look at the details of the offering???

I think it offers teams, not in the same location, the ability to easily work on the same document.

Also, I would not be surprised if in the future there is some type of plug in to Open Office (and other open source tools) to interact with Google Documents and use it as a repository for shared work and versioning.
