Outdoorzy.com is a networking site designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts. Myspace, Facebook, Orkut, and other networking sites have filled the need for generalized media online. Niche markets however are just beginning to pop up all over the . Outdoorzy came about when the founders were discussing the lack of a network designated for the outdoor sports market.

Outdoorzy provides many of the standard features that most networks provide such as; Profiles, Personal Messaging, Forums, Picture Storage, Comments, an Events Calendar, Friends, and a Blog. Some other features have been designed with the outdoor market in mind though. Trip Reports, Gear Reviews, Gear Lists, a new Outdoor Directory, etc. The new Outdoor Directory feature is innovative for networks, in that, it allows outdoor businesses to sign up for a special profile and advertise their for free, while networking with their customers directly.

Businesses have been signing up for profiles on networking sites for a while now, but Outdoorzy has embraced this practice and categorized it to help the members find what they are looking for. The personal profiles on Outdoorzy serve as a repository for the members outdoor adventures, but also fill the role of a billboard just as the major networks do. Outdoorzy allows the members to put a “quick note” on their page telling their friends what they’re up to. The quick note looks like a post-it note and allows the members to leave messages for their friends.

Outdoorzy is developing new features for the site as we speak. Coming soon will be an interactive map section of the site along with outdoor how-to and informative videos, a classifieds section, job postings, and members will be able to create their own groups on the site as well. The site is experiencing tremendous growth and plans to develop more features such as member uploaded videos, a trip planning resource that finds flights, weather for your destination, activities, outfitters, reservations, and more for the members looking for their next adventure.

    Hi, I’m one of the co-founders. We are located in the US. We have members popping in from all over the world though. Quite a few from Canada.
