PetPalio.com, the world’s first matchmaking website for animals is the brainchild of 17 year old student Aaron Rodrigues from Auckland New Zealand. Built to be a hub to connect pet owners around the world, which has so far been quite a task. Aaron says that “the website is not just a matchmaking website but also a place to help you find information from other pet owners on a multitude of reasons such as medical conditions, breeding information and other general information about your pet.”

Pets too get lonely from time to time just like their human counterparts, its just that they speak their own language. They too need companionship and friendship with others of their own kind. Aaron came up with the idea of starting PetPalio.com when he was looking for a match for his 3 year old Bichon Frise, endless weeks of searching offline with not much success. “I really want all pet owners from around the world to register on PetPalio.com to help it grow into one global destination for pet owners to connect with other pet owners” says Aaron.

PetPalio is easy to use. Simply register and activate your account and post a pet profile for your pets. The search is also very accurate with its results, narrowing your results down to the animal’s specific breed. Best of all the service is completely free to use. Aaron plans to market PetPalio.com to be the new icon in the Pet Industry both online and offline. Some might scoff but pet fanaticism is a high growth industry. The American Pet Products Manufacturers Association estimated that pet owners spent $US38.4 billion on their animals in 2006. Food was the big ticket item, at $US15.2b, another $US2.7b was spent on special services.

The free worldwide service has already gained 200 members in its first week and continues rapidly, mostly in the US, UK and New Zealand and hopes to grow into the MySpace of the pet scene.

    200 members is not that much for such a website… it doesn’t seem to be what some people call a “loud startup”…
