Spock case: Techcrunch, BusinessWeek, WSJ, etc. say it’s great, but it’s not that great at all

Within 6 months Spock, a startup financed by Clearstone Venture Partners and Opus Capital Ventures got reviewed by 13 Big Media Players. What I find surprising is how useless this tool is and how much coverage it got.
I know businesshackers.com is not businessweek, techcrunch, venturebeat or any other powerful site about startups and web 2.0, but we got the only website that dares to criticize projects that despite wide media coverage are nothing more than companies you would never spend a pay for.
M. Arrington usually writes posts that make sense to us, but I can’t really believe you got so enthusiastic about Spock. He wrote: “In my testing, Spock did a great job of finding information about different kinds of people - bloggers, celebrities, and even lesser known individuals with some web presence”.
O’Relly wrote sth similar: “it’s also a lot of fun, but that’s a subject for another post, once the product is live and it won’t just be a tease to talk about all the cool things you can do with it!”.
I know it’s hard to go against mainstream theories and say things that are unpopular, but to me Spock is a project that got popular only because of media saying that it’s something to check out.
Three things make Spock uninteresting:
1. it’s not reliable yet, but this is probably due to the fact that it’s a beta version
2. if you are looking for data non concerning the US you will see quality deteriorate quickly
3. graphics is still very poor
4. you can use google to get much better result or multiple search engines
Observers tend to think that you can come up with ideas like skype or google everyday. That’s impossible. Web 2.0 is not about evolution, it’s about technological and business revolutions.
Just one more thing. When you launch Alexa.com you find three URLs already added to their main window. Just a coincidence? I don’t think so.

I agree with you. Spock is nothing new. It seems a simple site to make money instead.
