The 5min videopedia is a place for short how-to videos on every aspect of life. 5min is not just another youtube. It focuses on how-to videos only.
Video websites have become ubiquitous, with the youtubes now loaded with so much content it’s hard to find what you really want. That’s why niche video sites are becoming a “must” these days.
5min was created to fill the void in the how-to video market and aims to dominate that niche. The idea behind the website is very simple- everyone is an expert in something and has something to teach others. So why not share that knowledge for the better of the whole?

5min is entering a crowded textual how-to market. Sites like ehow.com, wikihow.com, about.com and howstuffworks.com are just a part of a long list. Yet, in the video how-to market, 5min is a real pioneer. The only significant player in that market is videojug.com, an English site which creates most of the content in-house.

From the looks of it, the how-to video market seems like a good platform for advertisers and marketers, who’ll have an easy way reaching their targeted market, as well as showcasing their own products in the form of a how-to video.

So what is so special about 5min?
For starters, the Smart Player. The SP allows viewers to watch the video in slow motion or frame by frame, zoom in and out, and more. It also gives the video creator the option to make a storyboard that helps others better understand the demonstration. The Smart Player â„¢ features can really enhance the learning experience, and it will be interesting to see if 5min introduces other features in the future.

For now, though, 5min’s biggest challenge is generating more content.

A little bit about 5min’s origin: the company is an Israeli startup founded six months ago by three entrepreneurs in their early 30s. The website launched in early April. The company has raised seed money.
