What makes a startup sexy and successful? 5 points.

It would take me at least 10 hours to answer this question, but there are 5 things that seem to be absolutely essential:

1. a good is a completely new project or a good adaptation of an old idea.

This is what I mean. If you invented yahoo you would be really happy to see so many people talk about it. If you are not that creative why not creating a search engine in Luxemburg. It is going to be a copy, but I can tell you for sure that you will not find many competitors.

2. an excellent is able to create or find a niche.

This advice is really self explanatory. I would only add one more thing. Try to avoid high barriers of entry. If you have only 10 bucks to invest don’t try to produce cars. Do you see my points? -)

3. a should be useful

Many of you have asked my how to launch a . This topic has been covered many times already, but there are 5 points that I would like to underline.

4. a can be controversial.

Controversy is a good way of getting free media coverage. Even if someone will disapprove, you will still get more media coverage than normally.

5. success can be random.

Maybe, not exactly random, but it goes without saying that you need to be lucky from time to time. I have heard of search engines coming up before arrived, but it was to be noticed and discussed in every place in the world.

A startup doesn’t have to be controversial at all. The quality must be high and you need to invest in ads. Otherwise no one will visit your site.

I strongly believe the points # 3, a startup should be useful and brings some kind of value to people.

Beside that I also suggest that we can startup something base on what already existed and add more features or simply provides more value to people. This is also another way to stand out the crowd

I’d also add that a startup should make best uses of their resources– as if they had to do everything on a tight dime. There are a few standout companies that are lending a reaching hand– on in particular, Sun Microsystems, has a whole program called SSE that is geared toward getting startups ’started’ with the right equipment and tech support so you can get your ideas into a reality a little sooner than holding your breath for a VC.
