Your startup is not popular. Do you really want to know why?

In the last five days we received 7 e-mails asking about the best way to promote a . We have been discussing this topic in our team for some time and we reached the conclusion that there is no single way to launch a successful . There are however some hints that are worth being mentioned:

I know it may seem obvious, but that’s a simple way to let people know about your product or service for free. If you tell your friends about it you will probably be able to let about 200-300 people know about your project in a relatively short period of time through indirect and word of mouth.

It is good to be recognized in your field. I remember when we launched businesshackers.com and no one knew about it. We decided to contact experts who told us what could be improved. This is how the adventure started, and we are now happy with the evolution of our site.

Being controversial is not enough. You need both a good product and a catchy way of advertising. GoDaddy dot com is a good example of that. I remember the first time I watched their famous video. I got really impressed!

Nowdays people want to know about: the best, the fastest, the coolest, etc. Avoid being humble, otherwise people will not find any reason to choose your product.

Whenver you launch a you need to act as a psychologist. Try to imagine what people are going to think. Try to predict what will happen when someone uses your product or service for the first time.

If you give something for free you will earn at least twice. Being greed makes you look too much focused on you own . Your clients need to know that you are involved in optimizing your service and that you really care about them.

It’s a good idea to create two versions. The more time you spend on giving sth for free the more you will be able to charge for a premium version. It may sound weird, but that’s the way it is in most cases.

If you’re the last person in the word not to know what viral merketing is, here you are: link. No comment needed, right?

Guys you made some very good points, but I don’t really agree that you should look for a guru. You should be a guru, not follow gurus.
